Thank you for your interest in joining URMA!

Membership is open to those who produce or contribute to the communication of research using print or online magazines, e-newsletters, social media, video, podcasts, and/or other media with the goal of increasing public awareness about research and other scholarly activities on behalf of a university, college, governmental funding agency, or nonprofit research center or institute.

Benefits of membership:

  • Access to the URMA listserv, an electronic discussion group where members trade information and share best practices regarding the day-to-day production of university or institution research magazines.
  • Opportunity to attend URMA’s annual conference.
  • Resources — talks, documents, articles — on magazine management, design and layout, writing and interviewing, editing, working with freelancers and students, media relations, social media, video, podcasts and many other topics.

Annual dues are $40.00. Membership is for one year, with renewals due annually in February.

Members who join after October 1 will renew in February of the second year.

Apply to join URMA by filling out the form. The URMA Board will review your application and reply promptly.

Upon approval, you will receive an email directing you to log in to pay via credit card or to send a check to the URMA treasurer.
