Instructions for Submitting Content
(with biases)
by Frank Stephenson,
Putative Digest Editor
What We're Looking For:
MAGAZINE FEATURES that fit the categories as indicated.
REVIEWS of faculty written books.
NEWS ITEMS such as awards, changes in format, circulation, the hiring of sane administrators, e.g. URMA-type insider stuff.
Criteria for Submissions:
Must have been produced by an URMA member since the beginning of 2003.
Feature submissions must address AT LEAST regionally important issues; national or international preferred. (Philosophy: We're trying to steer clear of provincialism here, and show how URMA publications address issues of wide concern.)
Must reflect strong writing or is otherwise distinctive, e.g. an award-winner. (If the piece submitted has won any award, by all means please identify this award on the submission form.)
Notes on Submission Categories:
FEATURES: Please identify which of the categories given best describes the central theme of the piece.
TEASER GRAFS: We need these primarily for feature submissions, but if you've already written these for other items, send them as well. Please hold to 50 words, NOT the full stories.
ARTWORK/ILLUSTRATIONS: You are welcome to send along one or two pieces of art to illustrate your entries, according to our art maestro, Mr. Hagelberg, who also says in the same breath that he can't guarantee all (or any) will be used. Please indicate which art goes with which entry.
Digestus Maximus
Please limit the number of your submissions accordingly:
Features: A maximum of two per category.
Book Reviews:A maximum of four.
News: no limit
Caveats & Conceits
In his role as putative "editor," in the compilation of this digest Frank pledges not to: a) edit b) attempt to edit c) engage in any activity that could be mistaken as real work. Editorially, the goal here is to be self-policing. Send the wheat, keep the chaff. Resist the urge to send enough material just to fill your quota. We're looking for quality here, not quantity. Kelli Whitlock has agreed to edit the URMA News section.
