2. Optional pre-conference field trip on Tuesday, June 5: Chicago Architecture Foundation River Tour

Yes, I will attend. (Check one of the options below. Full tour description is below.)

I will take the tour bus to the dock.

I will meet you at the dock by 1:15.

The Chicago Architecture Foundation River Cruise aboard Chicago's First Lady is a must for out-of-towners and Chicagoans alike. CAF-certified volunteer tour guides—called docents—interpret more than 50 buildings along the Chicago River, revealing how the city grew from a small back-country outpost into one of the world's most important crossroads in less than 100 years.

The 90-minute tour provides an overview of historic and modern architectural styles, plus many stories about the people who designed and built the city.

There is a covered, climate-controlled portion of the boat available for tour-takers if it rains or is extremely hot. There is a full-service bar on board all River Cruise vessels where beverages and snacks can be purchased. We will supply a box lunch to eat aboard the boat.

The River Cruise is not ADA accessible, but accommodations can be made for people with wheelchairs or mobility disabilities. To avoid the stairs down to the dock from Wacker Drive, there is a dock-level drop-off-only area below Lower Wacker Drive, adjacent to the Chicago River.

A bus will pick up tour-goers from the Hilton Garden Inn at 11:45. A box lunch will be provided. The bus will pick up tour-goers and return to the hotel, leaving the dock at 4:45. This allows people approximately 1 ½ hours for exploration of Chicago's downtown. If preferred, public transportation is easily accessible for those who wish to return to Evanston at another time.
