Hit the Oregon Trail for URMA 2014.

Oregon State UniversityOregon State University will host URMA in Corvallis, Ore., July 15-18. We’ll focus on magazines as a blend of art and story. We’ll delve into design and editorial practices in joint sessions with the University and College Designers Association. We’ll pursue narrative storytelling techniques that turn a scientific topic into a page-turning tale. We’ll get social media tips from practitioners who engage people on Twitter, Pinterest and other mobile-friendly sites.

When we’re not wrestling with words and design, we’ll visit one of the world’s largest tsunami test basins and explore the legacy of Nobel Prize-winning chemist Linus Pauling. We’ll take a trip to the Oregon coast, home of the Hatfield Marine Science Center and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Pacific Fleet. Corvallis has a thriving brewpub culture, so be prepared to enjoy URMAFest!
